Kathy grew up in Southern California near Disneyland and the beach with a book in one hand and a transistor radio in the other. She began writing stories about family and wrote her first song with a childhood friend. They called themselves the “Screamie Birds.”
Along the way, 3 key things happened: (1) she fell in love with disco, (2) she met her dad and he said, “All my kids play the drums,” (3) her uncle said, “Welcome to the family, Kat. Now that you know you’re a Holmes, you’re going to want to pay attention to music.”
These days she writes more music than she does novels, but she’s still trying to juggle both.
